In attendance: Nancy Mallary, Chair, David Stevens and John Alexander, Selectmen, Greg Gallagher, Town Clerk, Dennis Desmarais, Road Foreman, Bruce Wheeler, Anne Alexander, Vince and Louisa Dotoli and Gerald Saindon.

Dennis reported that he had hauled some of the junk at the garage to Croutou’s Junk yard.

David moved and John seconded to apply any money received for the junk to the Equipment Fund. Motion passed.

Ned Fauser will sell gravel from the former Sarentino pit for $5.75 per yard of crusher run grade. Dennis thinks the Town will need 3000 yards.

David moved and John seconded to authorize Dennis to purchase up to 3000 yards of crusher run gravel from Fauser’s pit at his discretion and load it with the Town loader. Motion passed.

Dennis has hauled all the sand he needs for winter to their pit.

Dennis has ordered O-rings for Darcy’s truck.

David moved and John seconded to authorize "Chipper" Merchant to cut brush along the right side of Long Pond from Wheeler’s to the next driveway, Peck’s. This is approximately 1000 feet at a cost of $1000. Motion passed.

John moved and David seconded to approve an overweight/width permit for Mattetes. Motion passed.

Greg relayed a message from Bob Parsons, a summer resident on RTE 5A, that his neighbor, Randy Pickle, has a pipe running water onto his property. The Board referred him to the VT Agency of Natural Resources, or Civil action to address this problem.

John reported that he had talked with the town Health Officer, Glen Harter, about a water line running across someone’s property and leaking near his septic system. Glen will talk with the people with the water rights to have them deal with it.

John moved and David seconded to approve Select Orders #19 amended with $11.53 postage spent 5/1/07 and 4/23/07. Motion passed.

Nancy asked to change the Northern Exposure expense to "Food and Florist".

John moved and David seconded to approve Payroll # 19. Motion passed.

John moved and David seconded to approve the 9/4/07 Minutes. Nancy asked to change her vote on the Milfoil contract amendment from abstained to nay. With that change, the motion passed.

David moved and John seconded to approve the Grand List Errors and Omissions report dated Sept 17, 2007, as presented by the Listers. Motion passed.

Action on the Selectboard’s Administrative Assistant was tabled.

John moved and David seconded to authorize Gerald to select a contractor for the old office roof from written bids containing price, type of shingles, time frame for completion and warranty. Motion passed.

John read an e-mail from Catamount Electric containing a few remaining questions on the backup generators.

John offered the roof which covered his generator before the fire.

John and Gerald will meet with Joe from Catamount at the Garage 9/18/07 at 2 PM to resolve the remaining questions.

Greg was asked to get quotes for LP gas and installation of tanks for the generators.

David moved and Nancy seconded to ask Eagle Eye Farm to repair or replace the stairs at the Transfer Station going to the recycling trailer. Motion passed.

John will ask Larry Phipps to contact Awesome Welders for a proposal on fixing the compactor.

John moved and David seconded to accept, with regret, Auburn Harter’s resignation from the School Board and to ask Greg to post the opening in three places. Motion passed.

John reported that he and David had met in deliberative session on the Tower Lane reclassification request.

David moved and John seconded to deny the request to reclassify Tower Lane from a Class 4 to a Class 3 road. Motion passed with Nancy recused herself.

John moved and David seconded to give Kimball Johnson an award at the next Town Meeting for his exceptional community service. David and John voted aye. Nancy voted nay. Motion passed.

John moved and David seconded to go into Executive Session at 8:50 for personnel issues. Motion passed.

JA/DS Come out of executive session at 9:00.

JA/DS Keep recruitment open and have Greg continue the ad for Selectboard Administrative Assistant. Motion passed.

JA/DS Recess until 5:00 pm on 9/18/07. Motion passed.
