WESTMORE SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING

SEPTEMBER 14, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by Chairman John Alexander. Auburn Harter and Anne Alexander, board members were also in attendance. The minutes of the July 20, 2006 meeting were read and approved on a motion by Auburn, seconded by John and so voted.

A motion was made by Auburn, seconded by Anne to pay David Smith in a monthly check, at the current rate, which is $1.25 per mile for the extra twenty miles per day, with the understanding that the contract does not change. So voted. The $4,375 dollar amount will be broken down into ten separate payments of $437.50 each. The extra miles occur with the inclusion of the students at the south end of Willoughby Lake on the bus route.

In a discussion regarding tuition for Westmore students it was stated that we pay the rate set by each school, except for private schools for which we pay the state average and the parents pick up any additional cost.

Auburn made a motion that we develop a link for the town of Westmore with the Orleans Central Supervisory Union web site. The motion was seconded by Anne and so voted. Auburn will contact Jeff Everett for direction.

Methods for encouraging parents to become involved in the individual meetings of the school their child/children attend elicited the plan to send out notices of time and place of the district school meetings. There will also be an attempt to get the calendars on the Westmore web site.

A motion was made by Auburn, seconded by Anne and so voted to hold the second policy reading.

Bills were circulated for signing by board members.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 7 pm at Lake Region Union High School.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:28 pm.
